Bate-and-switch pricing.

The price-check that Thrifty Propane gave on their website was much lower than the final price on the bill. I checked the price before I ordered the propane and every day after, until the propane was finally delivered.

The propane was delivered while I was home but no attempt was made to notify me that it was being delivered. I found the bill shoved in my door jamb. Thrifty Propane wants payment directly from a checking account - so you can't stop the payment when you finally see your bill. The price will be higher!

I made numerous calls to customer service but the people there are "not able to look up the historical pricing on the website", so they took my name and phone number and promised a return call. No return calls were ever received.

Very poor customer service - not friendly, not helpful, not knowledgeable. STAY AWAY FROM THRIFTY PROPANE!

Problems year after year.

Pre bought 2,000 gallons each year for 5 years. Great pricing but poor service on deliveries in December, January and February. In spite of calling or e-mailing an order when the tank was at 35% (actually reported 30%) I ran out of gas 2 times. I had to get an alternate local supplier at a premium price. Several other times I was running on fumes. Quite often can not get in contact with them and they do not call back. The drivers are great, but their hands are tied. Their trucks break down often. The company always seems to have an excuse. They blame things on others. I just can not afford to have my pipes break because of running out of propane. The price is very attractive but you have to kiss their butt to get them to deliver consistently during heating season. I have had it and am not doing business with them again. It was nip and tuck to get the last of my prebuy delivered this past heating season!

Don't know anything about that but if you're grown you can't be forced to do anything. You know right from wrong.

I know when Miss Carrie was there no one in my neighborhood ran out. She returned calls even if it was to let us know someone had gotten our order and she was honest. If she didn't have a date she said so. I got more respect for that.

Sounds like you ain't upset with carrie. Thrifty bad but carrie good.

I just saw in the Columbus paper she is working with state on propane fuel oil and driver safety. So thrifty lost her for good.

Guest

Carrie is a 2 faced liar ! Forced her employees to drive illegal trucks & lied for the owners wife , Angela Maloof !

Meters on trucks not properly state certified & or legally certified . DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY "SHIFTY PROPANE" !

Guest

True story. Getting worse year after year. Bring carrie back so we can get fuel!

No Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a 500 gallon tank and pre purchased 1000 gallons. Trying to schedule deliveries was difficult at best. Second year tried to schedule deliveries for two months with never a return call. Finally went to another company. Two years after we purchase our tank Thrifty now claims we didn't pay for the tank. We even told them we have receipts for paid in full. Now after another three months, they have debted my bank account. This isn't over Thrifty! Next phone call is to Ohio Attorney General although I'm sure state is well aware of this companies illegal ways.

3 business weeks to get a fill???? It's our busy season

Have used TP for a few years and worked around the service level decreasing for the past 3. This year I bought a price cap contract again and paid the money.

When my 1000 gal tank was due for a fill @ 10% remining I called them, no response, called again @ 7% remianing and was told that it woudl take 3 business weeks to get a fill due to it being the busy season? No one calls back and or answers the office phones. I calculated the BS fees they have, HAZMAT 19.99 CREDIT CARD FEE 9.99 rush delivry 3 days 150 bucks and said screw it....called a seperate company got a pretty competitive rate even though I was not a pre buy customer and had service scheduled next day.. Whoever runs logistics and operations for this company should be fired.

3 weeks for a fill??? lol now to process a refund request on my CC for that prebuy contract which I am sure does not indicate a 3 week wait for fuel...

Caveat Emptor!!. stay away

Thrifty Propane Tank Refill Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When we filled our tanks, we were told it would burn slower, less butane, ect. Despite having a mild winter and keeping our thermostat at 68° we've completely run out of propane in 10 months as opposed to the 13/14 we've gotten out of other competitors. Terrible product, half the flames are butane and burned up fast. Never ordering this low quality propane again.

Pre buy lie

Try to order pre buy for three days talked to several employees who claimed they couldn't take the order but would've someone return my call. Three days later they returned my call and tried to charge me the price that day which was 30 cents more a gallon for six hundred gallons and they wouldn't honor the previous price even though I could prove I called. I guess they have a good scam going if you can lie to you in order to make an extra 200 in less than three days. I actually never had a problem with them for call in fills. The driver told me to always lie when your at 35% tell them your at 20% and that worked. It's a shame probably could be a good company just has dopes running it.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Purchased a new tank and 500 gallons of propane from thrifty propane. They insisted pay for all in advanced which I did.

They delivered tank with very little propane in it and never the 500 gallons I am sitting in a house with no heat as it snows . Calling customer service is a joke finding anybody at all is almost next to impossible .

VERY BAD customer service this year.

I have emailed, called, left several voice messages asking for an ETA on a delivery. They wanted me to leave a check for the driver under the hood of the tank.

Week later STILL no propane with temps heading into -12 degrees here in Northern Indiana now. They have a fill station for their local trucks 25 miles away so no reason NOT to deliver. I keep my driveway clear for access and my dogs inside for the drivers.

Been waiting on a return call from a supervisor for 2 hours now JUST to get an ETA. I'm home 99% of the time so there is no excuse for this and glad I didn't pay with my card.

Thrifty is horrible with communication. I have been calling about a tank set, and get nothing. I noticed credit card been charged for the tank.

Guest

Pathetic. Company.

Run.run.run.

Get it from whoever can give it quickest, more per gallon is cheaper than busted pipes. Just sayin.

Going out of Business?

I think so, they don't staff their phones, if you hit the prompt to get a return call it will never come. If you know the 3 digit extension for say Sheryl (702) she will not call you back. I think I got my balance of my pre-buy prior to them filing bankruptcy but I have 10-15 days to wait for the fill up. Took me 2 weeks of repeated attempts to get through. Sent in email from their online or should I say off line help center. They have suits and charges against them according to some online postings, BBB complaints. Buyers beware.

Thrifty Propane - Tank Refill Review from Kingwood, West Virginia

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

People ! Thrifty Propane is a shady business ! Ran by the wife, Angela Maloof, since William Maloof is not allowed to run ANY business ! Ohio Attorney General and supposedly Maryland Attorney General has over 30 plus lawsuits against Thrifty Propane.

My strong suggestion is for all of you to call the Attorney General's office in your area/state & make a complaint ! And keep on them until this place is shut down for good !

They have illegally inspected trucks, delivery meters are also not legally certified on alot of their trucks. This is to just name a few things wrong . Make your complaints and make them heard. Go to your local TV & radio also !

And if you pay by credit card or check? Best discontinue that form of payment because they will rip you off that way too ! And their used tanks are NOT properly reconditioned as per state/federal law either. They splash paint on them and maybe a new guage, but the inside of the tank is not properly cleaned/reconditioned.

Thrifty Propane is the worst company I've ever dealt with!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had Thrifty 3 or4 years ago. It took 10 weeks to get a fill of propane.

You could never talk to a human and when you did they had no authority to make anything happen. Cancelled this services years ago. So, a few days ago, I get a bill in the mail for tank lease renewal fee. They removed the tank years ago!

I called Thrifty today to get this resolved. Of course, the person on the other end has no authority to make anything happen and has to email someone else.

I've asked for a supervisor to call me back. We'll see what happens but if history is any indication their services will still be terrible.

Something needs done to shut Angela Maloof and William Maloof down , permantely ! He isn't supposed to be running any propane business bit his wife is for him !

Illegally inspected or improperly inspected trucks and illegally or improperly certified delivery meters on trucks ! Amongst other things they have been doing and are currently doing !
